The ironic thing about our obsessive desire to document everything we experience is that our brains are unable to recall events clearly when we’re busy taking photos. In fact, one study on memory and photography found that when museum-goers took pictures of exhibits, they were less likely to remember them than if they did not take pictures at all. When you get the urge to snap a picture the next time you see something spectacular, ignore it. Not only will you enjoy the moment more, but you’ll also be able to remember it.
