What better way to motivate people to recycle than offering subway money for it. That’s the idea in Istanbul as the Turkish capital has moved forward with a plan to install “reverse vending machines” at metro stations that allow passengers to add credit to their subway cards simply by inserting recyclables into the machine. For a single-journey ticket, a commuter would need around 28 1.5-liter bottles.
