It’s very improbable that anyone has ever enjoyed having blocked sinuses, but unfortunately, with spring in full swing and summer just around the corner, many people with seasonal allergies are likely suffering from sinus headaches or finding that they can’t stop sniffling, which considering that we’re in the middle of a health pandemic, adds another layer of discomfort to the situation.

Dealing with clogged sinuses often requires you to take pills that come with uncomfortable side effects that may disturb your day just as much as your sinus congestion would anyway. However, there is a clever acupressure trick that might help you clear your airways in under a minute.

Apply pressure

Press your tongue flat against the top of your mouth while simultaneously applying pressure between your eyebrows with your finger. Hold and maintain that pose for about 20 seconds and you will feel your sinuses begin to drain.

Other alternative methods for easing sinus pressure

If the first trick doesn’t work, there are a few other things you can try.

The area where the bridge of your nose and eye socket connects is the area that is most affected by nasal congestion. Use your thumbs to massage the space on the inner point of each eyebrow and along the side of the nose. Apply pressure for 30 seconds, release, and repeat until you feel the sweet relief of your sinuses draining.

If this method fails you, then place both of your middle fingers beside each of your nostrils, then place your index fingers next to them. Press down both middle fingers for 30 seconds, then add your index fingers for another 30 seconds. Repeat these motions until you feel the air flowing freely.

Lastly, you can help alleviate sinus pressure and tension headaches by squeezing the webbing between your thumbs and forefingers with the opposite hand for 30 seconds each.
