These costs are becoming prohibitive for tech companies. They are looking for new markets. That’s why Toronto in Canada was the hottest tech city in 2017. Toronto created more jobs than the Bay Area, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. combined. The office space expenses in Toronto are a little over half of those in the Bay Area.
