Coal-fired generation is on the way out in America’s electricity sector, pushed further and further from profitability by clean energy economics. This dynamic is perhaps most visible in the Western United States – new research shows Colorado could save $2.5 billion by replacing aging coal generation with clean energy including wind, solar, energy storage, and natural gas.
