What she does is repurpose discarded garments into amazingly intricate quilted tapestries to raise awareness amongst people about the growing cost of our wasteful consumerist lifestyles and our unsustainable taste for ‘fast fashion.’ Beyond that, her vibrant tapestries highlight the richness of African-American culture by portraying the lives of everyday citizens and historical figures.
