American computer technology company Dell has just announced its “Progress Made Real” initiative in hopes to increase sustainability efforts. The centerpiece of the company’s new climate change plan is to source 75 percent of the power for all of its facilities from renewables and 100 percent by 2040. Added to this plan is Dell’s pledge to make its supply chain and devices more energy efficient along the way.
Aside from switching over to renewable energy, the firm is also seeking to recycle one “equivalent product” for every device that consumers buy. It envisions that by 2030 more than half of its devices will be made from either “recycled or renewable material”.
The company’s efforts follow in the footsteps of other tech giants, such as Apple and Samsung, and are hoped to set an example for other electronic manufacturers to take on.
