Today’s Solutions: May 03, 2024

Communities across the world are scheduling nighttime celebrations for healthcare workers by clapping a howling for those who put their lives on the line to treat those infected with COVID-19. A group of employees at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center paid tribute to their fellow medical workers by orchestrating a beautiful virtual singing celebration.

The hospital’s employee choir couldn’t meet in person to record their voices, so they set up an online meeting to sing Bruno Mars’ “Count on Me” as a group from 30 different locations.

The employee choir has been a part of the cancer center for 50 years and their Zoom call looked familiar to anyone who has been working from home. The singers called in from their homes and quiet areas of the hospital to contribute. The video also featured images of doctors, nurses, and technicians working to fight the pandemic.

To make it more cohesive, the video was not recorded live. Each member recorded their own part accompanied by an instrumental version of the song and the hospital’s video team used their recordings and the work of a pianist and a percussionist to create the masterpiece.
