The world officially has a new “largest painting” and the whopping $62 million from its sale is going to a good cause: charities for children.

Sacha Jafri’s The Journey of Humanity (2020), makes the mark for the world’s largest painting, certified by the Guinness Book of World Records, at 17,000 square feet. About the size of two football fields, it took Jafri several months to paint the piece and it is made up of more than 300 layers of paint.

The initial plan was to sell the abstract piece in 60 separate segments to raise $30 million, but this plan changed when Andre Abdoune, chief executive of Altius Gestion International Holding, offered to buy the piece in its entirety for more than double the initial expected price at an auction in Dubai.

The profits from the painting will go to a variety of global charities including UNICEF, UNESCO, the U.A.E.’s Ministry of Education, and the Global Gift Foundation.
