Fish oils have already been proven to prevent heart disease and lower blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes, but researchers have recently found that fish oil could reduce the occurrence of seizures. The study was conducted at the University of California, Los Angeles and was made up of 24 participants who could no longer control their seizures with traditional medication. The study found that participants who took low doses of fish oil had 12 seizures a month, compared to 18 seizures a month experienced by the control group who were given corn oil. While the study needs further confirmation, fish oil could be a cheap alternative to pricy epilepsy medication.
