I went to the seminar with two hopeful expectations: to get some inspiration and to feel some enlightenment. Both expectations were not only met, but exceeded.

When I saw on my Twitter feed Dr. Bruce Lipton was speaking at a conference in San Francisco, I knew I had to go. After having read and fallen in love with his book, The Biology of Belief, I told myself I must see this man speak in person. Thanks to Twitter, now was my opportunity!
I quickly signed up for the event on OdeNow.com, and waited in anticipation of what was to come. I went to the seminar with two hopeful expectations: to get some inspiration and to feel some enlightenment. Both expectations were not only met, but exceeded.
Held at the beautiful Fort Mason Center by OdeNow, I was surrounded by both gorgeous scenery and kind, intelligent people. As I arrived, I walked into a conference hall right next to the Marina. The horns of incoming boats in the Marina were the perfect background to the conversations being held amongst the attendees.
Being a 22-year-old who just recently found out that wine has “legs,” I felt a little intimidated by the other attendees, swirling their glasses and nodding with smiles of approval at the wine selection. This nervousness lasted very briefly, because I was quickly approached by a few other gregarious patrons. I soon found that we all were there for the same reasons and I suddenly felt right at home.
When Dr. Lipton approached the stage, the room’s attention quickly focused on him. The next hour of speaking was enlightening to say the least. We were taken through a quick cellular biology lesson to educate everyone on Dr. Lipton’s findings. He did an amazing job teaching so that anyone could understand the sometimes scary topic of stem cells and biology. After learning about his work with stem cells, and other research he has conducted, Dr. Lipton worked towards the topics of his books.
In his books, Dr. Lipton states we are not the victim of our genes. To explain how and why he had reached this conclusion, Dr. Lipton dove into the findings in epigenetics, which the public is just now becoming aware of. But he has known about this for over 30 years! Coupled with a few comical stories of past experiences and his easy to understand and likable speaking style, the speech was an entertaining, fun, and enlightening lesson on cellular biology and the role it plays in creating our own realities.
I left the conference that night with a feeling of excitement. Not only did I get to meet a personal hero, but I was surrounded by, and able to meet, people whom I consider “Intelligent Optimists.” This is very fitting, because the seminar was put on by Ode Magazine: News for Intelligent Optimists. It was a wonderful opportunity to be introduced to exciting ideas, to receive amazing guidance, and to have a great reminder that the world is filled with kind people who are working hard to make a difference.
Thank you so much Ode Magazine and Dr. Bruce Lipton for an inspiring, enlightening, and overall amazing experience.
