Today’s Solutions: December 05, 2025

If the idea of getting fit and helping the environment isn’t motivation enough for you to walk to your next destination, perhaps some money will serve as a better incentive. That’s the idea behind Bitwalking, a digital crypto-currency that is generated by human movement. The Bitwalking app counts and verifies users’ steps, and gives users 1BW$ for each 10,000 steps (about 5 miles, or 8 kilometer) they take. Users can then spend the money they earn over time in an online store, or trade them in for real cash. The online store will sell goods for the same price in BW$ as US$. For users in the developed world, the app could provide motivation for people to walk instead of hopping on the bus or taking a cab. As for developing countries where walking far distances is necessary to do nearly anything, Bitwalking can provide an extra source of income for those in need.
