Consumers can play a large role in slowing down climate change by purchasing less unnecessary things, which would cause companies to manufacture less. Although most companies would never want consumers to stop buying their products, Ikea’s sustainability officer Steve Howard sees that as a way to restrict the effects of climate change, suggesting that people may be done with buying new things. That’s right, even Ikea, the world’s largest furniture manufacturer, believes the world has enough of their own product. Despite Howard’s comments, Ikea still plans to keep making money, but through repairing and recycling old furniture rather than manufacturing more.
