More and more research is showing the health benefits of mindfulness. According to a new study, published in Biological Psychiatry, mindfulness meditation training reduces interleukin-6, an inflammatory health biomarker, in high-stress, unemployed adults. The researchers believe that these benefits occur because mindfulness alters brain network functional connectivity patterns. “This new work sheds light into what mindfulness training is doing to the brain to produce these inflammatory health benefits,” said David Creswell, the study’s lead author.
