Today’s Solutions: May 05, 2024

“The solution to our overburdened, outdated pwer grid? One word: microgrids—localized power networks that are cheaper, cleaner and more reliable.” That’s how one of our feature articles in the Fall 2015 issue of The Optimist began. Now, we come across an article on AP about U.S. towns that are working to develop microgrids, designed to make communities more energy independent and the grid more resilient. Proponents say there is also growing interest nationwide from places looking to save money by selling excess power to utilities and to help the environment. A good read about a promising, mostly under-reported trend.
