As of this week, the six most influential positions within the UN process are all held by women. France environment minister Ségolène Royal is now president of the talks, aided by two UN “climate champions”: Moroccan minister Hakima El Haite and Paris Agreement architect Laurence Tubiana. Gender equality is an important outcome but even more important is that women are more likely to generate to push global climate talks forward more quickly.
