Sending a space vehicle into orbit takes a massive amount of fuel and energy, which is why the first nation to launch a satellite into space has now created a rocket engine that runs on “clean” fuel. Russia announced recently that it completed the first successful test of a full-size pulse-detonation engine that runs on a clean fuel mix to get vehicles into orbit at a lower cost than conventional rockets. For environmentalists and space agencies, the announcement is welcoming a news as it will allow for less expensive launches at a lower environmental cost.
