Today’s Solutions: April 25, 2024

The go-to argument for opponents against climate action is that it’s bad for the economy and kills jobs. Not true! A new report from climate advocacy organization NextGen Climate America shows that investments into clean energy, such as efficiency improvements, renewable energies and electric cars would add a million jobs by 2030. In addition, it would create roughly 2 million jobs by 2050 based on scenarios that would aim to reduce emissions by 80% below 1990 levels. The report also highlights that the construction industry would see a major jump in jobs, with 1.2 million more jobs created by 2050 than the business-as-usual scenario, which makes sense considering installing solar panels and building wind farms will require the skills of a whole lot of people. Boosting the economy and saving the environment–that’s why fighting climate change is the only way forward.
