Let’s say a company would want to build a new office and has a wish to limit its impact on the environment. What building materials would it need to use? That’s a hard question, because there is currently a lack of knowledge about the environmental and health impact of different materials. This is why a few companies, including Google, started making an open source database of 100 common building products, their ingredients and their environmental and health impacts. The database will make it easier for building teams to make sustainable choices. The project is called Quartz, and is accessible to anyone.
