Here’s another reason to take public transportation rather than drive your car: It could significantly reduce the risk of high blood pressure, diabetes and being overweight. A Japanese study shows that people who take the bus or train to work were 44% less likely to be overweight, 34% less likely to have diabetes and 27% less likely to have high blood pressure compared with people who drive to work. While causality has not been shown, lead study author Hisako Tsuji suggests, “people should consider taking public transportation instead of a car, as a part of daily, regular exercise.”
