There’s hardly any good news about Alzheimer’s disease. So it is remarkable to find two promising reports about the disease on one day. Researchers have found a compound that reverses symptoms of the disease in fruit flies. The effect on the flies was significant, improving their movement and lengthening their lifespans. In another study, researchers have discovered that one injection of a protein reverses Alzheimer’s-like symptoms and cognitive decline in mice. Fruit flies and mice are no humans. Still every step towards a cure for this much-feared disease is important and noteworthy.
