Here’s a compelling statistic: The founding fathers ate less than 10 pounds of sugar per year; today the average sugar consumption per capita in the U.S. is more then 10 times as high. We pay a high price for that. Apart from other already known ill effects of sugar, new research shows that sugar consumption leads directly to cardiovascular disease, as well as many other chronic diseases. What’s most concerning is that there are few regulations surrounding sugar, allowing food companies to put as much as sugar as they want into products. So you need to be aware and protect yourself.
