A promising new study suggests that doctors might soon be prescribing a pill containing an antioxidant found in broccoli to obese patients with Type 2 diabetes.  Swedish scientists discovered that sulforaphane, a powerhouse antioxidant found in the vegetable, helped overweight people reduce blood sugar levels below the 7 percent goal recommended by the American Diabetes Association when added directly into the diet over a long period of time. The researchers aim to introduce broccoli sprout extract to the market as a drug-free way to fight the disease.
