Being in the sun is good as it stimulates the production of vitamin D in our body. But you can overdo it, and sunburn is unhealthy. New research shows that the same vitamin D can help repair skin damage. Taking supplements—at very high doses—after sunbathing helps reduce redness, swelling, and inflammation. People given the highest doses were seeing skin inflammation reduce dramatically after just 48 hours, and they also had less skin redness, according to the researchers. The research team is next going to test high-dose vitamin therapy on burn patients.
