Unfortunately, carbon fiber is made from oil and other costly ingredients. That could soon change thanks to a recent breakthrough by scientists who say it may be possible to make carbon fiber from plants instead of petroleum. This would not only drive down the costs of producing carbon fiber, but would also benefit the environment greatly.
