Many of the best athletes in the World Cup, as in other sports, are dark-skinned. And, yet, (almost) all coaches are white. Black players don’t make good managers, is the stereotype. The team of Nigeria, the most populous African country, is coached by a German. That’s why Senegal, a neutrals’ favorite, is an inspiration. The team that reached the last eight in the 2002 World Cup seems ready for a new success under the leadership of coach, Aliou Cissé, who was once the captain of the team.
