In fact, each person contains trillions of these microorganisms, and collectively, their called the microbiome. In the last decades, researchers have found out that the microbiome has a major influence on our health, helping us to digest foods and regulate hormones like serotonin. While we don’t know everything about these tiny organisms, we know one thing for certain: a larger diversity of microbes leads to better health.
