For over three decades, Project Angel Food has been a lifeline for people in Los Angeles facing critical illnesses, ensuring they receive nourishing meals when they need them most. But in the wake of the recent wildfires that tore through the city, the organization has stepped up in an even greater way, responding to a 10 percent increase in demand for its services. Now, its renowned ANGEL ART auction is set to return, offering not only stunning works of art but also a renewed sense of hope and solidarity for a community in need.

A legacy of art and giving

Launched in 2014, the ANGEL ART auction has become a cherished tradition, raising more than $500 thousand to date. This year’s event, taking place at Bonhams on February 27, 2025, promises to be more meaningful than ever. Every dollar raised will go directly toward helping Project Angel Food continue its mission, ensuring that those who are sick, hungry, and alone receive the care and nourishment they deserve.

World-renowned artists come together for a cause

The auction will feature works from world-renowned artists, including Ed Ruscha, Robert Rauschenberg, Jeff Koons, Louise Nevelson, Helen Frankenthaler, and Jim Dine. But beyond the celebrated names, this year’s event holds special significance—four artists who lost their homes or were displaced due to the fires have generously donated pieces of their own, a testament to the resilience and generosity of the artistic community.

Community support through art

“ANGEL ART is crucial for sustaining our transformative work,” says Richard Ayoub, CEO of Project Angel Food. “In these trying times, the engagement of artists, patrons, and partners like Bonhams is more vital than ever to deliver relief and hope to those who need it most.”

For those unable to attend in person, the auction will also be accessible online from February 13 to February 27, 2025, allowing supporters from around the world to take part in this powerful act of giving.

“Project Angel Food has always done vital work for our city, and their swift response in supporting and adapting to our community’s needs in the wake of the devastating fires was truly impressive,” says Lilly Chan, Managing Director of Bonhams US. “We are proud to help amplify their incredible efforts through this auction.”

Art as a force for healing and unity

In the face of destruction, art remains a force of healing, connection, and unity. The ANGEL ART auction stands as a beacon of what is possible when compassion and creativity come together. Whether through bidding on a masterpiece, making a donation, or simply spreading the word, everyone has a chance to be part of something truly meaningful.
