Play is the last thing that comes to mind for adults working in a world full of overflowing inboxes and endless responsibilities, but more and more research is finding that play has business benefits and can help improve the mental health of workers. When we play as kids, we imagine scenarios and create situations that give rise to creativity and knowledge. Just like the situations we experienced as kids during play, many of the complex problems adults face in life and work require creative solutions. By incorporating play into the work-setting, it can help stimulate the creative problem-solving solution process. We realize it’s hard to just tell adults to play, so here are some simple ways to get the inner child out while at work.
