Matt Taylor’s passion is exploring the power of design to make compassion go further. He has found the perfect job: he is in charge of strategy and operations at IDEO.org, where he is unleashing the social sector’s capacity to innovate through human-centered design. He recently gave a short, very personal talk about what he calls the Renaissance of Compassion: we live in an era where we acknowledge the complexity of the problems at hand, and recognize that no single individual can solve them alone, as illustrated by several initiatives he mentions. No doubt that the movement is grounded in individual compassion born from “the profound love for one another and the desire and will to help,” as he puts it. It also rests on one question that he offers as his closing statement for each and one of us to ponder.
