As eating less meat is critical for better health for people and planet, veggie burgers make sense. However, vegetarians who have tried have often been disappointed: The vegetable burger did not taste much like “the real thing”. But the veggie burger is getting better and better. Yesterday, Whole Foods began selling the Beyond Burger and according to initial reports the burger tastes, feels and chews like any other burger. Sales of products incorporating plant proteins grew 8.7 percent from 2014 to 2015, while overall sales of food products grew 3.7 percent.
