In The Optimist Daily we have often reported on healthy eating, because we believe good food can make our lives healthier and happier. But a relaxed approach to food is also worth something. And let’s relax a bit when it comes to processed foods. Panelists at a discussion at the Aspen Ideas Festival suggested the word “processed” is confusing. They concluded that as long as we’re eating fruits and vegetables, it’s not all that important whether these are fresh, frozen, or canned. Dariush Mozaffarian, the dean of Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, said that it’s better to eat a frozen peach than no peach at all.
