Clean energy initiatives mostly come from rich countries. Developing nations—for understandable reasons—are first focused on bringing energy, any kind of energy, to their rapidly increasing populations. From that perspective, it is especially promising for the international efforts to fight global warming, that the government of India is planning to turn the country into a 100 percent electric vehicles nation by 2030. The government plans to introduce legislation to enable people to buy an electric car from the money that they would save by not having to buy petrol and diesel—that is with zero down payment.
