More and more Americans are shopping for organic produce and its reflecting in the number of organic farms sprouting around the country. Since 2002, the U.S has certified 21,781 organic growers to meet the demands for naturally grown food—a staggering 300 percent increase. Americans are also becoming more interested in locally sourced foods as local food sales exceeded $12 billion in 2014, compared to just $5 billion six years prior. In total, the U.S organic retail market is now worth more than $39 billion and all signs point to more growth in the future, illustrating a national trend that Americans want to eat healthier food.
