Today’s Solutions: August 14, 2026

A new startup by the name of ByFusion has a novel solution for tackling the growing problem of ocean plastic: turn it into construction material. The U.S-based startup has a patented process where they collect plastic trash from the ocean and compress it into sturdy, construction-quality bricks. The multi-colored bricks can be easily stacked and slid onto vertical rebar supporter, and then covered to look like any normal cinderblock wall. What makes this process more amazing is that the compressing equipment is small and mobile enough to fit inside of a shipping container, the process is almost entirely carbon neutral, and the density and shape of the blocks is customizable. Perhaps one day your future home will be constructed out of plastic.
