A proper apology is “an exercise in honesty, accountability, and compassion.” This is a quote we can safely assume Donald Trump and Ryan Lochte have never heard before. The two dominated headlines this past weekend for unrelated reasons after issuing apologies that sounded more like excuses for their wrongdoings. Their “apologies” have been widely criticized for their lack of sincerity and have done more harm to their situations than good. Giving a proper apology is an art that needs practicing.
