The World Health Organization says the world is eating far too much sugar, which can lead to a myriad of health problems for consumers. The problem is that sugar can be addictive, but according to new research, getting more sleep may be the key to reducing that addiction. The researchers found that people who extended their sleep patterns consumed, on average,10 grams fewer added sugars per day at the end of the study when compared to the beginning. Although rejecting sugary foods is the simplest way to reduce sugar consumption, this study helps to show that there are possible low-cost strategies available for cutting sugar addiction.
