The other common tactic is to retreat — to temporarily disconnect from work and get away from the stressful environment. Both of these tactics have their pitfalls though, which is why you should consider a third tactic for coping with stress: learning something new. According to research, picking up a new skill can help us build resilience in the face of stressors.
