Today’s Solutions: February 20, 2026

For nearly 20 years, the New York Times has published its popular 36 Hours column which helps travelers plan weekends in destinations all over the globe. But as we all know, we’re no longer in travel season.

Many of us have seen our grand plans shrink down to small ones, as have the physical spaces we occupy. Nonetheless, the 36 Hours column decided to continue the column, calling on readers for ideas of what people could do over a weekend, wherever they are in the world (even if they are homebound), that embraced the ethos of travel.

The column received more than 1,400 submissions from all over the world — from Guangzhou to Zurich, Sydney to Buenos Aires, and across the United States. So if you want some clever ways to spend this weekend, check out this special edition of the New York Times’ column.
