The word “organic” is seen as synonymous with “higher quality” within grocery stores, but when it comes to wine, an “organic” label is often a turn-off for consumers. Instead of touting their wine as “organic”, vineyards who grow organically often leave the label off the bottle for this reason. A new study may just change that stigma. Researchers gathered blind taste reviews for tens of thousands of wines of different wines, with only 1 percent of the wineries in the sample being certified organic. The researchers found that the wines produced from certified organic grapes received a high rating, on average, than wines made with conventional grapes. So the next time you’re strolling down the wine aisle, consider selecting a fine organic wine, you may just be pleasantly surprised.
